About ANIQO & BIRTH
ANIQO is the musical pseudonym of Berlin-based singer and poet Anita Goss. Her music and metaphorical lyrics are filled with magic and longing—yet never for another place, but always for different states of being. With her hauntingly raw, evocative voice, she exudes a captivating intensity and strength. Committed to minimalism and eager to blend “light and dark” in innovative ways, she draws from the past while still pushing boundaries.
ANIQO hauntingly recalls David Bowie, Beth Gibbons, Marianne Faithfull, and Nick Cave, while forging her own unique sound. With artful psychedelic guitars, driving drums, and distinctive electronic and synth effects, she creates a hypnotic atmosphere—a bridge between today’s indie, rock, and pop and the best of the new wave era.
In March 2022, she released her debut album BIRTH, recorded alongside her long-time guitarist Torsten Füchsel and producer Guy Sternberg at LowSwing Studios in Berlin, as well as Joe Cardamone in Los Angeles.
ANIQO is currently working on a new album with musician and producer Bill Ryder-Jones in the UK. Titled Earth, Love and Variations, it is expected to introduce some luminous new sounds.
